With parents, family and carers being such an integral part of a child's life, it is essential that as case managers we work collaboratively with them, supporting them to navigate the situation they are experiencing.
This five part webinar series commences with a presentation from Rachel Wright of Born At the Right Time sharing her perspective as a healthcare professional and parent of a child with complex needs. This informative and energetic presentation will explore simple ways that parent/carers and practitioners can work collaboratively and constructively. (2nd May 2024) - Part 1
Following on from this, we will touching upon motivational interviewing as a means of enabling an open environment where complex discussions can be undertaken constructively with Verna Morris. (9th May) - Part 2
Staying upon the theme of communication, we will then welcome a family therapist to give an insight into working with families around the emotional aspects of their situation .Susie Hayden(16th May) - Part 3
As case managers we frequently find ourselves working with clients who have ongoing litigations and the fourth session will consider best practise for involving family in the process, how information is delivered by the legal teams and consider those more tricky situations, for example, families wishing to seek treatment that might not be proven with Mike Bird from Enable Law (6th June) - Part 4
Finally, we will consider how we can look after ourselves. This will involve pinpointing some indicators for stress and burnout and providing practical self-care strategies for avoiding this with Laura Walker. (13th June) - Part 5
