Rachel is a qualified nurse and unqualified mum of 3, parenting a son with complex disabilities and staring down the barrel of transition. She’s an award-winning blogger, was a finalist in the National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards 2022, the author of two books including ‘The Skies I’m Under’ and hosts the popular and funny ‘The Skies We’re Under’ parenting disabled children podcast. (Rachel’s the one who doesn’t swear as much as the other two).
Verna qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1991 and since that time has worked in all stages of the brain injury care pathway from Neuro ITU, inpatient rehab, to outpatient and community rehabilitation. She has spent over 20 years providing home-based Occupational Therapist interventions to clients with Acquired Brain Injury and other complex disabilities.
Susie is a state registered Speech and Language Therapist with over 23 years years NHS experience. Susie is committed to treating individuals and families who experience speech, language or voice disorders.
Susie graduated from York University in Language and Linguistic Science before going on to complete post graduate training in Human Communication Disorders at City University, London.
Susie's extensive experience has seen her work at Addenbrooke's, West Suffolk and Ipswich Hospitals locally, as well as other rehabilitation and community settings in the UK. Further afield, Susie spent three years in Tanzania as the sole speech therapist in an educative and clinical role at the country's main government teaching hospital.
Susie is a respected expert in her field; she has presented at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Conference and has set up a successful aphasia café in in her local area.
In addition to clinical practice, Susie has delivered training and clinical supervision to students and qualified speech and language therapists over a number of years.
Susie maintains her professional development, retaining a passion for learning new therapeutic techniques through ongoing training, professional collaboration. Additional training in psychological coping strategies and Systemic Therapy allows Susie to support clients effectively to achieve lasting change and progress.
Susie is a registered Specialist Clinical Advisor to the Care Quality Commission.
Laura is a mental health advocate with a profound understanding gained over 25 years in the field, recently focusing on coaching women leaders through stress management and burnout prevention. Drawing from a personal journey of resilience and a broad spectrum of mental health expertise, she empowers individuals to achieve balance and navigate high-pressure environments with grace. Laura's method, a 7-element process for thriving amidst stress, merges empathetic support with actionable strategies, ideal for professionals seeking growth and well-being. In the workshop, Laura will unveil insights to transform workplace challenges into opportunities for personal and professional development.
Mike is a partner at Enable Law, a nationally recognised specialist solicitors practice with over 100 lawyers providing expert legal advice in Clinical Negligence, Serious Personal Injury and Mental Capacity law.
Mike is a specialist and highly experienced serious injury lawyer. For over 25 years I have acted only for people and families whose lives have been seriously disrupted by significant injury to the brain, spine, eyes or major body systems. I also support families where a loved one has died through negligence.
Most recently, in 2023/4 Mike have concluded 2 major claims for children whose brain injuries were wholly avoidable but have led to high-level lifetime needs, with capitalised values of £32m and £18m respectively.
Mike also represent groups of claimants, for example, He acted for over 200 women injured by disgraced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Rob Jones at Royal Cornwall Hospitals 1991-2012.
Mike is also a part-time Assistant Coroner in the South West, and in the East Midlands, investigating unnatural deaths and conducting inquests.
